Fun Decorations
You’ve already started Pinteresting Fourth of July party ideas. Ladies, let’s be honest— attempts at re-creating Pinterest masterpieces don’t typically work out like we envision (it’s sad, we know). With Independence Day right around the corner, it’s time to let go of the Pinterest details and make decorating easy and cute!- Grab patriotic themed, disposable tablecloths for easy cleanup.
- Coordinate festive napkins, paper plates, cups, etc.— more easy cleanup.
- Buy a small helium tank and blow up balloons to throw around the yard—when you’re ready to clean up, pop them and dispose.
- Find American Flag streamers (red, white, or blue will do too!) to hang on the patio area, and anywhere that needs a touch of pizazz.
- Buy small American flags (dollar store find, holla!) to stick in the ground all around the yard.
Easy and Yummy Grilling
For this, we like to keep it simple. Throw some meat on the grill and call it a day, or take things a step further while still keeping things easy.- Grilled meat of any kind is always a hit—burgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken, steaks.
- Make chicken, steak, and/or salmon kebabs by alternating a piece of meat with a veggie of your choice (bell pepper and zucchini are always delish) on a skewer.
- American flag fruit kebabs: strawberries, blueberries, and marshmallows alternating on a skewer. Yuuuuuum.
- Corn-on-the-cob grilled corn: with the corn still in the husk, wrap it in some foil to grill. Remove husk, butter, and ENJOY!
Drinks (not to be confused with dranks)
We’ve got some kid-friendly drinks that are festive and delicious for everyone to enjoy!- Shirley Temple: In a glass with ice, combine your favorite lemon-lime soda and a little grenadine. Garnish with a cherry or strawberry. Voila!
- The Star: Combine white grape juice and lemonade, and pineapple juice, and a splash of your favorite lemon-lime soda in a glass with ice. Garnish with pineapple or blueberries.
- Blue Raspberry Spritzer: Grab your favorite lemon-lime soda, and a touch of blue raspberry snow cone syrup. Combine in a glass with ice. Garnish with a few blueberries OR use frozen blueberries as the ice.
Party Games and Activities
Fun in the sun is always a hit for an Independence Day celebration! We’ve got some kid-friendly (and affordable) ideas that even adults will love:- Pool time, duh! Find some festive pool floats for the kids to play around on.
- Water Balloons. Make red, white, and blue water balloons for a water balloon fight contest!
- Patriotic face painting. You don’t have to be an artist to make this happen—run to your local dollar store or Target and grab some face paint. This would be a great idea for one of the older kids to be in charge of. These can be found just about anywhere this time of year, and are a fun way to end your night of celebrating
